Vision: Seeing Yourself Succeed
HSC Leadership Development Seminar 2008
July 2008, Hyatt Regency Hotel & Dell Children’s Medical Center

The 2008 HSC Leadership Development Seminar, Vision: Seeing Yourself Succeed, was a huge hit. 60 Scholars and invited guests gathered at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on July 23 for the HSC Social Etiquette Dinner and Professional Training Seminar where Scholars participated in workshops focused on advanced resume writing, interviewing skills, networking and public speaking. Invited guests then joined them for a short reception and social etiquette dinner facilitated by Susan Brown of The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy.

Scholars then reconvened on July 26 for a Team-building and Self-Awareness Seminar at the Dell Children’s Medical Center. After a presentation on financial literacy by Richard Sapp of TG, Scholars then worked with members of Team Craft in several highly engaging team-building activities. Additional topics included: surviving your first year of college, life after undergraduate studies, time management, securing internships, effectively working with others and a professional panel.

Quote:
“I personally thought that this seminar was very insightful and a boost of confidence. It was a great means of communicating with other people and creating new friendships. The teamwork events instilled in me a new vision to work hard on my education and balance work and life itself, yet have time to express my inner self and relax.”-HSC Scholar
