Achievement Community Scholarship
Description: The AXA Achievement Community
Scholarship program offers $2,000 college scholarships to high school seniors. The
scholarships are sponsored by the AXA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of AXA
Advisors, LLC.
Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate
outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community, or the
workplace.

Description: The AXA Achievement Scholarship in
association with U.S. News & World
Report provides $670,000 in annual scholarships to young people throughout
the nation.
State Winners
Fifty-two winners - one from each state, the District of Colombia and Puerto
Rico - are selected by our nonprofit partner, Scholarship America, to
receive one-time scholarship awards of $10,000 each.
National Winners
From the pool of 52 state winners, ten are selected as national winners and
earn an additional one-time scholarship of $15,000. This brings the top AXA
Achievers total scholarship awards to $25,000 each. These top ten also receive
a laptop computer and the offer of an internship with AXA.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) is one of the leading Hispanic non-profit and non-partisan 501(c) (3) organizations in the country. CHCI envisions an educated and civically active Hispanic community participating at the local, state and federal policy decision-making levels to develop the next generation of Hispanic leaders. This site contains numerous CHCI scholarship opportunities, other scholarship links and a wealth of tips and guidelines.

Lucille Roybal-Allard Scholarship Directory
This excellent resource
includes a scholarship directory for high school seniors, undergraduates, and
graduate students. The directory was compiled by the office of U.S.
Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard from California. Once you enter the
website, click on "Making College Affordable: Scholarship Directory."

Legal Scholars Program
Description: Texas Appleseed
and Kaplan Educational Centers created this program to provide LSAT preparation
assistance for minority residents of Texas. Scholarship recipients receive a
free Kaplan LSAT prep course.
Requirements: Applicants must apply
for fall admission to at least one law school in Texas. Selection
is based on criteria such as academic achievement, economic need,
recommendations, and motivation to attend law school in Texas.

Millennium Scholars (GMS)
GMS was
funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. It was
established in 1999 to provide outstanding African American, American
Indian/Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Islander Americans, and Hispanic American
students with financial assistance. Scholarships are available to complete an
undergraduate college education in all discipline areas and to complete a
graduate education in mathematics, science, engineering, education, or library
science. The goal of GMS is to promote academic excellence and to provide an
opportunity for thousands of outstanding students with significant financial
need to reach their fullest potential.

Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU)
HACU represents more than 450 colleges and universities
committed to Hispanic higher education success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin
America, Spain and Portugal. Although their member institutions in the U.
S. represent less than 10% of all higher education institutions nationwide,
together they are home to more than two-thirds of all Hispanic college
students. HACU is the only national educational association that
represents Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Students planning or attending HACU-designated HSIs are available
for scholarship opportunities at this website in the "Student Resources"
section.
>> Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards
Description: The Hispanic Heritage Foundation
(HHF) celebrates the outstanding achievements of Hispanic American leaders and
promotes the next generation of role models. Now in its 20th year, the Hispanic
Heritage Awards have grown from a small photo op at the White House to the most
celebrated Hispanic event in America, including a stage production at the John
F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, which is televised on NBC Universal and
Telemundo.
Requirements: Open to high school seniors
graduating with an unweighted 3.0 GPA in the categories of Academic Excellence,
Business, Community Service, Education, Engineering and Mathematics,
Healthcare, Journalism and Sports.

Scholarship Fund (HSF)
HSF was founded in 1975
with a vision to strengthen the country by advancing college education among
Hispanic Americans-the largest minority segment of the U.S. population. In
support of its mission to double the rate of Hispanics earning college degrees,
HSF provides the Latino community with more college scholarships and
educational outreach support than any other organization in the country.

Latino
College Dollars is a comprehensive website created by the Tomás Rivera Policy
Institute at the University of Southern California. Several scholarships are open to both U.S. citizens and non-U.S.
citizens.
>> LULAC
National Scholarship Fund (LNSF)
Description: The LULAC (League of United Latin
American Council) National Scholarship Fund was established in 1975 to provide
scholarships to Hispanic students attending colleges and universities. Under
the LNSF program, local LULAC councils, in partnership with local and national
businesses, award scholarships to students in their communities. LNSF is
administered by the LULAC National Educational Service Centers, Inc., a
nonprofit educational organization established by LULAC to provide educational
programs for Hispanics and other youth.

Achievement Award, Honor Award and General Award requirements are available on

(MAES)
The purpose
of the MAES Scholarship Program is to assist Hispanic students in completing
their higher education goals. MAES scholarships are available on a competitive
basis to MAES undergraduate and graduate student members in the fields of
science and engineering.
>> Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) Law
School Scholarship
Description: MALDEF seeks to increase the number
of Latinos in the legal profession by offering financial assistance to
deserving students entering their first, second or third year in law school.
Requirements: Financial need, academic
achievement, involvement and commitment to serving the Latino community within
the law profession

The purpose

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) - the largest

This program
works by providing incentives, motivation, and support for students to remain
in high school through graduation. Scholarships are made available for those
who wish to continue their studies in an accredited college or university in
San Antonio and abide by specific standards set by the program.

Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
FSA-an
office of the U.S. Department of Education-offers grants, loans, and work-study
programs for students enrolled in eligible programs at participating schools
(four-year or two-year public or private educational institutions, career
schools, or trade schools). Aid can cover school expenses, including tuition
and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation. FSA is the
nation's largest source of student aid.
